| BMW 5-series Gran Turismo With its coupe-like styling, high driving position and roomy interior, the 5-series Gran Turismo, will offer a sporty alternative to an SUV or station wagon. The five-door car, which is BMW's latest niche model, is based on the same platform as the new 7 series and is almost as long as the BMW flagship. Its trunk space can be enlarged to 1,700 liters from 440 liters, giving it the second-largest trunk space of all BMW models after the X5. An innovative feature is a two-piece tailgate, which opens like a conventional sedan-style trunk for smaller objects or hatchback-style for bigger items. First unveiled as a near-production concept at the Geneva auto show earlier this year, the 5-series GT will be shown in its final form in Frankfurt and will go on sale shortly afterward. Prices are expected to start at 55,200 euros in Germany. |
