| Renault Megane The five-door lower-medium sedan launches across Europe immediately after the Paris auto show. The new Megane features a classic design that is unlikely to spark the same debate that followed the arrival of the more quirky current Megane. Renault CEO Carlos Ghosn is betting heavily that the new Megane will help the French automaker grow despite stagnant to declining auto sales across Europe. The Megane family is crucial to Renault's performance. The model line represented one-third (651,000 units) of the brand's worldwide sales in 2007. Renault has invested 1.8 billion euros on the design and engineering of six new Megane body types. After the hatchback, Renault will quickly launch station wagon, coupe, and convertible versions of the new Megane. Filling out the model line will be new five- and seven-seat versions of the Megane-based Scenic medium minivan, which are due in 2009. |
