Hyundai is teasing a sleek rendering of the new Veloster that debuts at the 2018 Detroit auto show. The Veloster lineup will feature the first Hyundai model in the U.S. from the brand’s performance-driven N line. The Veloster N — taking on the Volkswagen Golf GTI, Ford Focus ST and other high-performance hatchbacks — was spotted recently on Germany's Nurburgring track with light camouflage, revealing sporty front and rear styling. Power comes from a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that makes 271 hp in Hyundai's i30 N abroad. The Veloster N is based on a new lighter, stiffer platform and will feature high-end parts such as Brembo brakes. Three versions will be offered: a base, a Veloster Turbo and the Veloster N. The base and Turbo models likely will carry over the 1.6-liter four-cylinder while the N should get the same 2.0-liter turbo that makes 271 hp in the i30 N abroad.
