Chevrolet fans have spoken: The greatest Chevy ever was the 1969 Camaro.

That was the winner from votes cast this summer by 124,368 people in a four-round, bracket-style tournament. The '69 Camaro got 25,058 votes, edging out the 1970 Chevelle SS in the final round.

Other vehicles that went deep in the tournament were the 1957 Bel Air and the 1953 Corvette.

Tom Peters, Chevrolet design director, said the '69 Camaro represents "timeless design" and influenced styling for the fifth-generation Camaro, which was introduced in April 2009.
