- Valeo, industry will miss Martin Haub
Valeo has begun a search for a successor for Martin Haub, the supplier's head of research and development and product marketing.
Haub died suddenly on Dec. 24. He was 62.
R&D Director Guillaume Devauchelle and Product Marketing Director Derek de Bono will take on Haub's responsibilities until a successor is chosen, a Valeo spokeswoman said.
Haub joined Valeo from German supplier VDO in 1997 as co-vice president of the company's electronics branch.
The German native was named the French supplier's r&d boss in January 2000. Haub helped Valeo to establish a strong presence in fast-growing technologies such as stop-start and parking assistance, while maintaining its competitive position in powertrain, thermal and wiper systems.
At VDO, Haub held a number of key roles including managing director of engineering for the information systems division.
Valeo ranks No. 21 on the Automotive News Europe list of the top 100 global suppliers, with sales to automakers of $7.52 billion in 2010.
