Qoros Auto orders transmissions from Germany's Getrag
SHANGHAI -- Qoros Auto has ordered dual-clutch and manual transmissions from Getrag Group for use in the first Qoros brand model, according to Getrag.
Getrag will launch production of the dual-clutch gearboxes in 2013 in its factory in Nanchang in central China's Jiangxi province.
Qoros, a 50-50 joint venture of Chinese automaker Chery Automobile and Israeli investment firm Israel Corp., plans to start selling vehicles in China and western Europe in 2013.
Qoros, previously known as Chery Quantum Auto Co., unveiled its Qoros vehicle brand and a sedan prototype in Shanghai last year. Three models will go on sale in 2013 and 2014.
Getrag, a transmission supplier in Untergruppenbach, Germany, generated global sales of 2.6 billion euros (20.9 billion yuan) in 2010.
