French automakers are facing a tough 2012 due to forecasts of weak sales in their home market. PSA/Peugeot-Citroen CEO Philippe Varin and Renault Chief Operating Officer Carlos Tavares will talk about how they plan to overcome this challenge at the Automotive News Europe Congress. The theme of this year's Congress is "Building Resiliency in Turbulent Times – Managing the Unexpected In an Age of Complexity."

"The industry is facing challenges and opportunities, volatilities and interdependencies that are greater than ever," Automotive News Europe Editor-in-Chief Harald Hamprecht said. "This year's Congress provides a forum to discuss these big issues and provide some fresh ideas for successful solutions."

The Congress, which takes place in Monte Carlo on June 20-21, will explore the industry's big issues through keynote addresses, top-level presentations and panel discussions.

Speakers include Opel/Vauxhall CEO Karl-Friedrich Stracke, Porsche CEO Matthias Mueller, Volvo CEO Stefan Jacoby, Kia Europe Chief Operating Officer Paul Philpott and Ferrari Chairman Luca Cordero di Montezemolo.

Among the discussions are how mobility will look in the megacities of the future and the changes ahead for car retailing in Europe. The results of Automotive New Europe's annual OEM/supplier relations survey will be given at the event.

The Congress will also honor the European 2012 Automotive News PACE award winners; the winners of the third annual L.E.A.D.E.R. Awards recognizing excellence in OEM, supplier and retail categories, as well as honor the industry's future leaders in the second annual Rising Stars awards.
