Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile, a joint venture between PSA/Peugeot-Citroen and China's Dongfeng Motor, plans to combine marketing and distribution of its Peugeot and Citroen brands by April, according to a Chinese newspaper report.

A new sales company will replace the two sales companies that run the brands, the Beijing Business Today daily newspaper reported, citing Liu Weidong, vice general manager of Dongfeng Motor Corp.

Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen builds Peugeot and Citroen vehicles in its two assembly plants in Wuhan and Xiangfan, in central China's Hubei province. But the brands are marketed separately and sold through separate dealership networks.

Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen sold 33,965 Peugeot units and 34,268 Citroen units in the first two months of this year, according to LMC Automotive.

In addition to the joint venture with Dongfeng, PSA has formed a joint venture with Chongqing Changan Automobile Co. in the south China city of Shenzhen. The new venture has yet to launch sales.
