Continental plans 5,000 new jobs in China by year end

Germany's Continental AG plans to hire 5,000 more people in China by year end, boosting its work force in the country to 21,000. The new hires will be mainly in engineering and manufacturing, the supplier said in a statement.
Continental, which entered China in 1994, has a work force of 16,000 in the country, accounting for 10 percent of its global total.
The supplier has 18 production facilities in China mainly making automotive interiors, electronics and tires.
Continental ranks No. 3 on the Automotive News Europe list of the top 100 global suppliers with worldwide original-equipment automotive parts sales of $24.8 billion in 2010.
