Continental to build infotainment plant in China

SHANGHAI -- German supplier Continental AG has signed an agreement with the Chinese city of Wuhu to build a 33 million euro (262 million yuan) plant to produce infotainment components.

The 120,000-square-meter plant will be wholly owned by Continental's Interiors division.

Continental also announced plans for a 10,000-square-meter expansion of a plant in the Jiading industrial zone of Shanghai.

The company has invested 106 million yuan to add tooling for production of power window lifters, door control units and circuit board assemblies for instrument clusters, faceplates and climate-control systems.

Continental has 18 factories, eight technical centers and 16,000 employees in China. Global sales last year totaled 30.5 billion euros.
