Great Wall signs up German supplier Schaeffler as strategic partner

Great Wall Motor Co., China's largest SUV maker, said it has formed a partnership with German supplier Schaeffler Group to obtain components for engines, transmissions, chassis and electric motors.

Schaeffler currently supplies five- and six-speed automatic transmissions, clutches and flywheels to Great Wall.

Since the start of 2011, Great Wall has signed partnership deals with more than ten global parts suppliers including Robert Bosch GmbH, BorgWarner Inc., Delphi Corp. and Valeo SA.

Great Wall, of Baoding, sold 248,236 SUVs, cars and pickups in the first seven months of this year, up 25 percent year-on-year, according to LMC Automotive.
