BMW today disclosed details of the Paceman coupe, the latest model in the expanding lineup of the automaker's Mini brand.

The two-door Paceman is a sportier version of the Countryman crossover introduced last year. It will go on sale early next year as Mini's seventh model.

The Paceman has almost identical front styling to the Countryman but overturns a Mini tradition by using horizontal rear lights instead of vertical lights.

BMW said the Paceman has a "contemporary and expressive body shape," created to appeal to a new type of design-conscious customer.

The Paceman uses horizontal rear lights instead of vertical lights.

The Paceman goes on sale next spring, joining the Mini hatchback, Clubman, Convertible, Countryman, Coupe and Roadster models in the UK-based brand's lineup.

The four-seat Paceman has a trunk capacity of 330 liters, expanding to 1,080 liters with the rear seats folded flat.

The car will be offered with a choice of two gasoline or two diesel engines, all four-cylinder units, mated to six-speed manual transmission or six-speed automatic.

Price start at 18,970 pounds (23,560 euros) in the UK.
