IAC opens interior parts plant in Romania

International Automotive Components Group has opened a plant in Bals, Romania, to produce interior components.

The plant, which employs 250, produces instrument panels, center consoles, rear doors, front door panels and headliners for Ford Motor Co.'s B-Max small minivan, which is made 25km west of Bals in Craiova, Romania. The Bals factory is IAC’s 27th manufacturing plant in Europe.

IAC, of Luxembourg, ranks No. 47 on the Automotive News Europe list of the top 100 global suppliers with worldwide parts sales to automakers of $4.4 billion in 2011. Europe accounted for 43 percent of that total.
