BERLIN (Reuters) -- BMW Group said sales of its cars and SUVs in China rose 73 percent in December to 30,470 vehicles.

Sales of BMW brand vehicles increased 72 percent to 28,184, while deliveries of Mini brand vehicles surged 96 percent to 2,286, spokeswoman Linda Croissant said on Tuesday.

In November, BMW Group reported a sales leap of 62.3 percent to 31,090, which the automaker said was due to strong demand for its X1 small SUV and series 3 long wheel-base models.

Full-year group sales in China rose 40 percent to 326,444 vehicles, BMW said.
