McLaren will build 375 units of Ferrari rival

UK supercar maker McLaren Automotive said it will build just 375 units of its flagship P1 supercar that debuts at the Geneva auto show on March 5.
McLaren today said the P1 will cost 866,000 pounds ($1.3 million) on the road with a specification that fully equips the car for both road and track use.
The P1 will compete with Ferrari's Enzo successor that also debuts in Geneva. Ferrari hasn't disclosed pricing for its new supercar, but company sources say it will also cost about $1.3 million. Volume is expected to be limited to 499 units.
The two-seat P1 will be McLaren's third supercar following the 12C and 12C Spider.
The carbon-fiber car develops 903 hp from its hybrid powertrain, which comprises a mid-mounted 3.8-liter, twin-turbo V-8 gasoline engine, an electric motor and seven-speed transmission.
The P1 has a top speed electronically limited to 350kph. It can accelerate from 0 to 100kph in less than 3 seconds, 0 to 200kph under 7 seconds, and 0 to 300kph in 17 seconds.
McLaren said the P1 can also be in electric mode for up to 20km in city driving with an average speed of 48kph.
