ANE monthly e-magazine goes live Monday

The new issue of the Automotive News Europe monthly e-magazine goes live on Monday, Dec. 2. This edition looks at Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne's new plan to relaunch struggling Alfa Romeo.

Marchionne is betting billions of euros that Alfa will reverse a decade of losses and six years of collapsing sales. We analyze the key elements of the plan; reveal details about crucial future models; and look back at why Fiat bought Alfa in the first place.

From Turin we move to Ingolstadt, Germany, where were sat down with Audi CEO Rupert Stadler. He told us that Audi will reach its goal of selling 1.5 million vehicle globally this year, which is 12 months ahead of schedule and will take place despite the prolonged European slump. Stadler also explained how Audi is internationalizing without forgetting its strong German roots.

• General Motors boss Dan Akerson, who explained why GM's alliance with PSA/Peugeot-Citroen needed to change and how Opel and Buick will cooperate more in the future;

• Volvo chief Hakan Samuelsson, who discussed overcapacity in Europe and explained how Volvo plans to nearly double global sales to 800,000 by 2020;

• Toyota President Akio Toyoda, who revealed that his automaker is on the cusp of selling 10 million vehicles a year globally as it goes on the offensive again.

On the supplier side, Johnson Controls' Andreas Eppinger explains in an interview why he believes that a 5kg weight reduction per front seat is "realistic" in the next five years.
