Bosch Mahle to produce turbos in China
SHANGHAI -- Bosch Mahle Turbo Systems Co. is building a plant and headquarters in Shanghai to produce turbochargers for automakers in China.
The 5,000 square-meter facility will make more than 1 million turbochargers annually, with production scheduled to begin late this year.
The company said in a statement it already has lined up three customers and will produce turbos for gasoline engines ranging from 1.0 to 1.5 liters.
The plant will be equipped with the same tooling as the company's factory in Carinthia, Austria, so that it can adopt the European plant's production processes.
Bosch Mahle Turbo Systems is a joint venture between Robert Bosch GmbH and Mahle GmbH. The partners founded their joint venture in 2008, with employees in Germany and Austria.
