SKF opens China bearings plant, tech center
Swedish supplier SKF has opened a new bearings factory and r&d campus in China.
The 45,207-square-meter facility in the Jiading district of Shanghai is located near several major customers, according to SKF.
The company spent 77 million euros (657 million yuan) to build the facility, plus an additional 11 million euros to construct a distribution center in Shanghai's free-trade zone.
The new technical center is SKF's second major development in China this year. In March, the company announced a five-year deal to supply transmission seals to Chinese carmaker Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co.
The company will deliver seals for Geely's six-speed automatic transmission. SKF said it will manufacture the seals in a plant in Wuhu.
