BARCELONA - Jaguar's sales in Spain will reach 2,000 a year in 1999 when the X200 arrives, says Jaguar Hispania SA Managing Director Jose Soriano Rouco. The mid-size luxury car is scheduled to launch in 18 months.
'We have all seen how it will look and know what it will offer. It will be a success right from Day One,' said Rouco. 'We have no doubt it will create as much showroom traffic as the XK8.'
Jaguar's retail sales leapt by 56 percent in Spain during the first four months. Rouco said he was confident of reaching 700 units this year. 'We have suffered in the past because Jaguar's image has not been as high as that of Mercedes-Benz and BMW. Now that has changed.
'I expect our sales to reach 1,000 next year, but business will double when we get the X200.'
