MLADA BOLESLAV, Czech Republic - Skoda will start supplying other Volkswagen Group subsidiaries with engines and transmissions before the end of the year.
The engines and transmissions have been designed and built by Skoda here at its main manufacturing site.
The Mlada Boleslav facility already supplies the Felicia assembly lines with the engine and transmission.
Mlada Boleslav includes a complete aluminum foundry, machining lines and assembly hall. Current daily output is 700 of the 1.3-liter gasoline engines and 1,250 transmissions.
Rolf Zimmerman, Skoda board member responsible for production and logistics, said Skoda is improving its engines and transmissions and plans to develop new engines.
