BARCELONA - The two world premiers at the Salon Internacional del Automovil in Barcelona mark its growing improtance in the automotive world.
Two years ago, Renault introduced a new station wagon at the show. This year, the Renault Kangoo was a surprise debut, and Seat showed its Cordoba Vario wagon.
Top executives from Seat, PSA and Renault attended press days, including PSA Chairman Jacques Calvet and Seat Chairman Pierre-Alain de Smedt.
Organizers forecast 800,000 visitors. The show attracted 32 major carmakers among its 237 exhibitors from 23 countries.
Besides cars, the exhibition hosted industrial vehicles, motorbikes, accessories and parts.
Two proving grounds for sport-utilities and a classic car exhibit were also included.
