TURIN - Ford of Europe has opened a purchasing office in Turin. It is headed by Gian Domenico Ongaro. He previously worked at Fiat subsidiaries Teksid and Comau.
The office is housed in Ford's design studio, Carrozzeria Ghia, which it bought 20 years ago.
Ford is the fifth non-Italian carmaker to open a purchasing office in Italy. Opel opened its Turin office three years ago. BMW and Mercedes have purchasing offices in Milan. Audi, acting for the VW Group, is based in Verona.
