Pan-Europe Puma ad stars McQueen
MUNICH - The late Steve McQueen lives again, starring in Ford's first pan-European TV ad.
Ford is launching its Puma coupe with the ad. It features wordless shots on San Francisco streets made famous in the 1968 film Bullitt. Digital editing techniques have McQueen driving the Puma through the steep streets instead of the Mustang he drove then.
Ford paid an undisclosed amount to McQueen's estate and movie-maker Warner Brothers.
The ad was produced by London-based agency Young & Rubicam. It was broadcast last weekend in the UK, which will get the Puma first. It arrives in other European markets in September.
