TI GROUP - William Laule, 49, has been promoted to chief executive, effective 1 January 1998. Chairman Christopher Lewinton, 65, currently has both roles. Lewinton will remain as chairman. Laule has been chief executive of TI subsidiary Bundy for four years. TI said it will separate its polymer engineering operations as a fourth business unit.
PENSKE CAPITAL PARTNERS - Helmut Werner, who was forced to resign as chairman of Mercedes-Benz in January, has been named a principal in Penske Capital Partners. The recently formed company, led by US entrepreneur Roger Penske, intends to invest $1 billion in transportation companies by 2000.
MAGNA INTERNATIONAL - Franz Vranitzky, a former prime minister of Austria, has been elected to the Canada-based company's board of directors. Before entering politics he was a leading banker. Magna Chairman Frank Stronach served as an economic adviser to Vranitzky's government.
TEXTRON AUTOMOTIVE - Textron's Trim Operations has named Adgild Hop as managing director for Europe. Hop, based in the Netherlands, will report to Mike Mitchell, executive vice president for business and product development. Hop had been director of European automotive business development at GE Plastics.
CHRYSLER - Han Tjan, formerly vice president of public relations for Chrysler Europe, has been named vice president of governmental affairs and public relations for Chrysler's Asia/Pacific region.
TORRINGTON - David Anthony has been appointed sales and marketing director for Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Torrington makes bearings and motion-control components. It is a subsidiary of Ingersoll-Rand.
RENAULT - Gerard Detourbet, 51, has been appointed vice president for Renault's engines and transmissions division. He replaces Philippe Chauvel, 60, who has retired. Detourbet was previously project manager for Renault engines up to 2.0 liters.
Svenska Bilimporten - The state-owned importer of Fiat, Alfa Romeo and Hyundai cars has hired Anders Borgman as a temporary chief executive to prepare the company for privatization. Borgman is a board member of Chrysler importer Harry Karlsson Bil AB.
CHRYSLER JEEP IMPORTS UK - Carolyn Heitman, 34, has been promoted to sales operations manager. She has worked at the company since it was set up in 1993. Before that she worked at Ford dealer Invicta Motors and Daihatsu (UK) Ltd.
