HAMBACH, France - Gerhard Fritz, 53, has succeeded Johann Tomforde as head of development and production at Micro Compact Car.
Fritz has 20 years experience at Daimler-Benz. He led the development of the Mercedes M-class sport-utility.
Tomforde, 51, was reassigned to unspecified duties in Daimler-Benz after the Smart car failed the fast lane-change moose test in December. Daimler-Benz owns 81 percent of Micro Compact Car.
Christoph Baubin, Micro Compact Car's departing head of finance, will be succeeded by Peter Zattler, who currently works at Debitel, a German telecommunications company.
