NEW DELHI - Hyundai brought its redesigned Atos to Auto Expo 98, which runs until 21 January.
With markets in Southeast Asia in disarray, Hyundai is expected to aggressively seek sales in India.
Hyundai redesigned the Atos for India, giving it a more rounded look. The engine is a 1.0-liter, 55hp four-cylinder.
The Atos is aimed directly at the market leader in India, the Maruti 800. Hyundai has been working feverishly to set up a network of 100 dealers to sell the output of its new plant. Capacity is 100,000 units. Sales will begin by the end of the year.

The San Storm coupe, by locomotive maker San Engineering & Locomotive Co. Capacity 3,000.
The Tata Safari, a 4x4 from India's biggest truck maker, with a 2.0-liter diesel engine making 90hp.
