TURIN - Bertone is preparing a tiny, sporty pickup truck for the Geneva auto show called the Pickster.
Pickups have never been popular as personal transportation in Europe, but efforts by General Motors, Nissan, Mitsubishi and others have revived the idea.
The Pickster is powered with a BMW six-cylinder engine. While it is just a show car, the project is a reminder that Bertone will build the C1 motorscooter for BMW and wishes to cooperate on the design of passenger cars.
The Pickster will be the only concept car of the Italian Carrozzieri to debut in Geneva.
Both Italdesign and Pininfarina will unveil their new projects in late April at the Turin show. Italdesign's VW W-12 coupe, first unveiled at the Tokyo show in October 1997, will have its European debut.
