BUSALLA, ITALY - Bundy Group's Busalla plant will supply fuel injection lines to Ford's new Puma range of diesel engines, which will be offered on the Mondeo and Transit starting in 1999. Bundy's contract will be worth up to $2 million a year.
ABINGDON, UK - Bundy Group will supply brake and fuel lines to Nissan's 1999 Frontier, and to an unnamed sport-utility vehicle in model-year 2000. This will be the first time that Bundy has used polypropylene coatings for a fluid-carrying system.
ECCLESTON, UK - Pilkington Automotive will supply Sundym glass to Toyota's Avensis. It will be standard on two trim levels of the car, accounting for about 30 percent of Avensis production at Toyota's UK plant. It will be used on rear doors, vents and quarterlights. Sundym glass blocks up to 67 percent of solar energy, compared with the 39 percent blocked by standard green glass.
GYONGYOS, Hungary - UT Automotive has opened its second wiring harness plant in Hungary. The plant at Gyongyos, 85km east of Budapest, will supply Ford and Rover. Production ramp-up began in December. The first plant, at Godollo, supplies Ford and Opel. Last year UT exported parts worth $100 million from Hungary. Exports are expected to reach $160 million-$170 million in 2000.
