THE CAR of the Century is still alive.
Although a global series of 30 exhibitions of the 100 nominated models was cancelled, companies can still buy the right to host an individual show for $1 million, which includes transporting cars.
The first commercial show will be held in Toronto, 21 August to 7 September at the Canadian National Exhi-bition Fair.
Before Toronto, a Car of the Century show meant to attract sponsors will run at the Amsterdam RAI 27 June to 5 July.
Automotive Events, the organization responsible for the commercial exploitation of the competition, is negotiating with a number of companies.
'Potential sponsors were reluctant to invest much money in a full series of events,' said Klaas Lameijer, managing director of Automotive Events. 'They could not know the publicity effects in advance.'
