Becker is back for Daimler-Benz
Daimler-Benz has hired tennis pro Boris Becker for five years for about DM7 million. Becker now appears in two-page A-Class newspaper ads across Germany.
Z8 gets a home at Sochaux, France
PEUGEOT'S Z8 will be made in the Sochaux plant, said Jean-Louis Silvant, the newly appointed PSA manufacturing manager. Z8 is the code-name for the successor to Peugeot's top-of-the-range 605 model. The car is due next year.
Audi TT pilot production started
THE AUDI TT roadster has started pilot production at Audi's engine plant in Hungary.
Ulrich Hackenberg, chief of Audi's advance development, said the company isn't worried about the quality of work at the converted engine plant. The tricky part is delivering painted bodies in white from Ingolstadt to Gyor.

AUDI CHAIRMAN Franz-Josef Paefgen was seen in close conversation with Vittorio Di Capua, managing director of Lamborghini. Officially, Paefgen visited Lamborghini's stand for a courtesy call. But the conversation fueled rumors of forthcoming technical cooperation on Lamborghini's L140 small-car project.
TUV buys Bugatti HQ; looks for a partner
GERMAN TEST and certification organization TUV has bought Bugatti Automobili's test facilities for an undisclosed sum. TUV is looking for a partner to buy the entire Bugatti plant at Campogalliano, Italy.
