OSLO - Mazda may move its European headquarters from Belgium to Germany.
Jan Brentebraten, executive vice president for strategy at Mazda Motor Europe, said the idea of moving came up in a large study about Mazda's future in Europe.
Germany is Mazda's largest European market.
It is also headquarters for many of Ford's European operations, and Brentebraten is a former Ford employee, but he said the potential move is not related to Ford's control of Mazda.
'A move to Germany is not decided,' said Brentebraten, 'and a move would have nothing to do with Mazda's links to Ford.
'We are looking at our total engagement in Europe, and we hope to make decisions within a few weeks.'
