In mid-1995, 10 months after the Clio's design freeze, Renault Chairman Louis Schweitzer cut the car's production cost target by 15 percent. How did you achieve that?
It was not possible to change content because competition is very hard in this segment. But the team responded. If you ask for five percent less, you don't get it. If you ask for 15 percent you get it, and you get some more. It's very special, people feel something is changing. From one day to the next we changed completely.
