VIENNA - Ford of Europe has named Patricia Roberts, 41, as general manager of Ford in Austria. She is the first woman to head an Austrian distribution company, and she may be the first in Europe.
Roberts is a native of the UK. She studied at Nottingham University in the UK and has worked for Ford for 20 years, six of these at Ford of Europe headquarters in Cologne, Germany.
There she was responsible for customer satisfaction schemes and also managed several global projects. She also perfected her knowledge of German.
For the past three years, Roberts has worked in the USA planning global strategies in connection with Ford 2000. In the UK, she had been fleet manager.
Roberts is a devoted backpacker. She has hiked through Peru and India, far away from motorways. She says this gives her a clear head for work with cars.
