GM outsells Ford
DETROIT - General Motors outsold Ford in the light-truck sector this March for the third straight month.
In the USA, the light-truck category includes minivans and sport-utilities as well as pickups.
For the entire car and light-truck industry, March sales were down 1.7 percent. In the year to date, sales are down 2.8 percent, to just over 3.5 million.
GM, Chrysler want to sell joint venture
DETROIT - General Motors and Chrysler Corp. want to find a buyer within 90 days for their joint venture, New Venture Gear Inc. New Venture holds 70 percent of the US market for transfer cases and has a potential price tag of over $800 million.
New Venture CEO Fred Hubacker said a 'management buyout' has not been discussed. Potential buyers include Dana Corp., a major supplier of axles.
Lexus wins again
LOS ANGELES - Lexus again took top honors in the J.D. Power and Associates Vehicle Dependability Study, which asks owners to rate the reliability of five-year-old vehicles.
