JCI opens seating plant in Austria
GRAZ, Austria - Johnson Controls Inc. has opened an $8 million seating and interior parts plant in Graz. It will supply the Eurostar joint-venture between Chrysler and Steyr-Daimler-Puch, and other carmakers.
Behr profits rise
STUTTGART - Behr Group's 1997 operating profits rose 48 percent to DM92 million ($50 million) on a 15 percent increase in sales to DM2.6 billion. Vehicle air conditioning accounted for 54 percent of sales, and engine cooling for 32 percent. Behr aims to raise sales to DM3 billion by 2000.
Rieter shifts foundry work
WINTERTHUR, Switzerland - Rieter, which makes auto parts and textile machinery, will transfer its foundry operations to Von Roll Group of Switzerland. Rieter will stop making castings at its Winterthur foundry by the end of 1999.
TRW joint venture in China
CLEVELAND, Ohio -TRW Inc. has formed a joint venture with Ningbo Yong Xing Automobile Parts Co. Ltd. of China to make fasteners and plastic injection-molded parts. TRW will own 70 percent.
