HONDA - Minoru Harada, 51, will succeed Kazue Ito as president of Honda Motor Europe on 1 June. Ito will return to Japan as a managing director of Honda Motor Co. Harada is currently in charge of Honda's worldwide powertrain operations.
On the same date Akira Takano, 48, will succeed Kentaro Kato as executive vice president of Honda Motor Europe and managing director of Honda of the UK Manufacturing Ltd.
Takano is a director of Honda R&D. Kato will return to Japan as chief operating officer for Honda's worldwide motorcycle operations.
RENAULT/FIAT - Elois Pascal has been named chief executive of the new joint venture formed by the bus divisions of truckmakers Renault VI and Fiat-owned Iveco. Chief operating officer of the as-yet-unnamed venture is Enrico Valente, who was previously general manager of Iveco's Bus Division. Pascal was deputy general manager of Renault VI. Saverio Gaboardi is chairman of the board. He was vice president of Iveco General Products.
DEUTZ - Leopold Mikulicz, head of powertrain engineering at Audi, will join Deutz AG as head of r&d, and as a member of the board. Cologne-based Deutz builds diesel engines for trucks and tractors.
VOLKSWAGEN - VW Group (UK) Ltd. has appointed Peter Wyhinny to the new post of director of commercial vehicles. The company has been reorganized to separate car and commercial vehicle sales. Wyhinny joined from Rover Group where he was business development director from 1996. Previously he was with Jaguar and Land Rover.
RICARDO - Jeremy Holt has replaced David Swallow as president of Ricardo's North American subsidiary Ricardo Inc. Holt was previously vice president of product engineering and marketing at AE Goetze North America. Swallow will return to Ricardo in Europe.
Frank Alex has joined the board of parent company Ricardo Group plc as vice president of finance.
LOTUS - Pasquale De Nunzio will head Lotus Engineering's new Milan office. He will retain his position as managing director of Servo 2000 Srl. De Nunzio has 20 years' experience in engineering services, and has worked for MTS, Fiat, Schenk and Servo Test.
BUNDY - Hans Joos has been appointed account director for NedCar, the Volvo-Mitsubishi joint venture carmaker. Joos will be based at Beringen, Belgium.
SOFRES - Shannon Vanden Berg has joined the US-based market research company as senior project director of its automotive group from MIL Motoring.
DELPHI - Gareth Evans has been appointed UK director of human resources at Delphi Automotive Systems. He previously held a similar post at Johnson Controls Automotive UK.
SME - Patrick Northrop has replaced Gary Sweet as chairman of the Association of Finishing Processes of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. Northrop, who is senior group leader of BASF's Coatings and Colorants Division in the USA, will serve for one year. SME has 65,000 members in 70 countries.
