STOCKHOLM - Autoliv Inc. will supply seating components to Russian carmaker Moskvich starting in September. The first shipment will include seat frames, head-rest frames, safety belts and plastic seat parts for 30,000 cars. Within 18 months Autoliv will open a plant in Moscow to supply Moskvich.
DUBNA, Russia - Autoliv Inc. will supply seat belts to the Renault/Moskvich joint venture that will start building Renault Meganes in Moscow later this year. The seat belts will be made at Autoliv's Dubna plant, north of Moscow, which opened last year. The plant already supplies AutoVaz.
TAUBATE, Brazil - Sistemas Modulares Ltda. will supply front and rear suspension modules and engine cradles to VW's Brazil-built Gol, Santana and Saveiro from a just-in-time facility in Anchieta, starting this summer. Sistemas is a joint venture between Dana Corp. and Freios Varga, a subsidiary of LucasVarity plc. At full production Sistemas will make 500,000 modules annually for VW. Sistemas already makes some modules for the VW Gol and Parati at its Taubate, Brazil, plant. Volkswagen's plant is at Sao Bernardo.
TELFORD, UK - Bundy supplies complete fuel and brakeline systems, including connectors and flexible hose, to the Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph. Bundy has previously supplied only single brake and fuel tubing to Rolls.
GLASGOW, UK - Albion Automotive Ltd. has signed a five-year contract to supply rear axles to Renault VI's 5.5-tonne Messenger and 7.0-tonne Midliner trucks. About 9,500 axles sets will be delivered each year. Production is expected to start in June 1999 at either Albion's Lancashire or Glasgow factory.
