The C1 Concept has been crash tested against BMW cars, following ISO motorcycle crash test standards. The C1 front end has a 300mm deformable structure. It can be equipped with ABS. A novel seat belt system with cross-braced belts is part of the safety concept.
'They protect the chest and the body from both sides and can be released with a single handle,' said Klaus Kompass, head of advanced passive safety studies at BMW.
The C1 weights 180kgs, more than ordinary light motorcycles. BMW is talking to insurance companies, trying to keep costs low for C1 drivers.
