WARWICK, UK - Paint shop systems supplier Durr UK Ltd. completed modification of the electro-coat paint process at Rolls-Royce's Crewe, UK, plant over the summer. The electro-coat dip tank and associated pumps and pipework were converted to apply non-toxic, water-based paint, and the tank was lengthened to handle long-wheelbase limousine bodies.
AUBURN HILLS, Michigan - Nearly 40 percent of 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokees will feature factory-installed power sun roofs supplied by Inalfa Roof Systems. Inalfa is supplying a stronger, lighter and thinner design than on previous Jeep Grand Cherokees. Inalfa is the US division of Netherlands-based Inalfa Industries.
ROMULUS, Michigan - Hayes Lemmerz's European Aluminum Wheels Division will supply cast alloy wheels for BMW's 3 series. The contract is estimated to be worth more than $6 million a year. The wheels will be produced at plants in Dello, Italy and Hoboken, Belgium.
LONDON - Adam Opel AG has awarded a contract to develop an automatic gearbox for the Corsa to UK-based engineering company Antonov. A prototype of the transmission will be ready for evaluation in the second half of 1999.
LONDON - The new Bosch VP30 fuel injection distributor pump will make its debut on the Ford Focus's 1.8-liter Endura DI diesel engine.
The VP30 introduces solenoid control and integrated electronics onto Bosch's successful VE pump.
