The new Jaguar S-type's exterior lighting, developed as a complete system by the German supplier Hella, illustrates several recent trends.
The 'jewel' rear-light clusters use twin-colored and transparent cover lenses to produce a striking design effect. Faceted reflectors visible behind the clear cover lens make the light of the yellow flasher bulb and the white reversing light look like a radiating ring.
Hella and Jaguar have also cooperated on the new combination tail/brake lamp and the fog light to create a distinctive optical effect when the lights are switched on.
In addition, the rear lamp components are assembled using a snap-fit tab, not screws. The completed unit is installed on the line with just the pressure of two thumbs, reducing final assembly time.
