LONDON - Honda will boost its presence in the upper-medium sector with the launch of a five-door Accord in September. The car will be built at Honda's plant in Swindon, England, and will push total production from 112,000 to close to the capacity of 150,000 cars.
Honda also builds the Civic at Swindon.
Initially the five-door Accord will feature 1.8- and 2.0-liter versions. 'Because the new body style is built on the same production line as the four-door, we have the ability to swiftly alter the ratio to suit demand,' said a spokesman.
