SAAB - Daniel Chasins has been named executive vice president and chief operating officer for Saab Cars USA Inc. Most recently he was vice president of product programs and customer satisfaction for Saab Cars USA. Chasins was also vehicle line executive for the Saab 9-5 and 9000 model lines at Saab world headquarters in Trollhattan, Sweden. In addition, he was business unit director for the Saab 900 and program manager for the 9-5 wagon.
DELPHI - Paul Fleming has been named customer director for Delphi Automotive Systems' Ford of Europe business. He will provide a single point of contact at Delphi for Ford of Europe's senior management, and will coordinate all aspects of the working relationship between the two companies. Delphi already has significant electronics business with Ford subsidiaries Volvo (for the S80) and Jaguar (for the S-type.) The Ford role extends Fleming's existing responsibilities at Delphi. He remains customer director for Rover, and for other UK business. Fleming will be based in Coventry, England, and Cologne, Germany.
ZF FRIEDRICHSHAFEN - Matthias Lenz has been appointed head of corporate marketing and public relations at German supplier ZF Friedrichshafen. Lenz, 35, was formerly responsible for marketing and advertising at coachwork specialist Karmann in Osnabruck. He succeeds Dietmar Pfister, who has retired.
BENTELER - Wolfgang Bruns, 43, has been appointed president of Benteler Automotive Corp. He was formerly general manager of Benteler's plant in Schwandorf, Germany. Benteler Automotive, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA, is a subsidiary of Benteler AG of Paderborn, Germany. Benteler AG supplies chassis systems, steel tubing and other automotive products.
ROVER - Harry Dunlevy, 52, has been named personnel director at Rover Group. He was previously personnel operations director, with responsibility for trade union negotiations and international personnel issues.
In his new role, Dunlevy will be responsible for all personnel functions within Rover. He will report to Rover Chairman Werner Samann. Dunlevy joined Rover 25 years ago from Plessey Communications.
RENAULT - Renault UK's fleet director Mike Power, 60, retired in April after 40 years with the company. Franchising and dealer development director Keith Hawes will replace him. Hawes, 46, spent 12 years with Ford Motor Co. in various sales, leasing and marketing positions before joining Renault in 1988, initially as sales operations manager. He was later appointed regional director for Renault's central sales region, based in Manchester.
Renault fleet sales in the UK grew to over 100,000 units last year. It currently holds 10.1 percent of the country's fleet market, ranking No. 3 behind Ford and GM's Vauxhall arm.
BOSAL - Anthony Lewis has joined Bosal (UK) Ltd. as director of aftermarket sales. Lewis has held senior management positions with AlliedSignal Friction Materials and Valeo Distribution in Paris and the UK. Bosal (UK) is a subsidiary of Belgium/ Netherlands-based Bosal, the leading independent manufacturer of exhaust systems, roof racks and towbars.
