PARIS - Faurecia, the French seat, parts and exhaust systems maker, increased 1999 third-quarter sales by 7.9 percent to euro 926.5 million compared with the same period last year.
Total sales since January have reached euro 3.1 billion, 7.5 percent more than in the first nine months of 1998.
Faurecia's seat sales grew by 8.7 percent in the January-September period thanks to a healthy domestic market and relatively low sales during the third quarter of 1998.
Exhaust sales were up by 12 percent, reflecting the increased popularity of catalyst systems.
But dashboard sales fell by 8.7 percent after the sale of Faurecia's steering wheel business last June.
For 1999, Faurecia expects a 6 percent increase in its global sales, from euro 3.9 billion sales in 1998.
