DaimlerChrysler and Mitsubishi Motors will not try to blend their corporate cultures, said DCX Chairman Jürgen Schrempp.
'If there is one thing we learned from the integration of Daimler-Benz and Chrysler,' he said, 'it is that we should have stressed a lot more that we are in favor of having different cultures.'
Daimler-Benz and Chrysler merged in December 1998, but the integration was quickly plagued by business conflicts.
'At the beginning we were talking too much about becoming one company,' said Schrempp.
'This resulted in fear on both sides. But we learned pretty quickly that it is a benefit to have different cultures. It offers the chances for different approaches, and in the end better solutions with a greater variety.'
