BMW TECHNIK James Kelly, 46, currently director of the transportation design department at the University of Pforzheim, Germany, will head BMW Technik GmbH's design department starting May 1. Kelly, a native of Scotland, will succeed Klaus Kapitza, 60, who retired at the end of last year.
BMW Technik GmbH is BMW's advanced in-house design center. The Munich-based company is responsible for BMW's concept and show cars.
AUTONOVA Mike Flewitt will resign down as managing director of AutoNova, the Swedish plant that builds Volvo C70 coupes and convertibles. The move follows Volvo Car's acquisition of a 75 percent stake in AutoNova. Lars-Goran Moberg, managing director of the components division of Volvo Car, will succeed Flewitt.
Flewitt will stay in his position until Volvo and partner TWR seal their newly negotiated deal for Volvo to take majority ownership of AutoNova.
Volvo spokesman Ingmar Hesslefors said this will probably take place in late May or early June.
LEAR US interiors supplier Lear Corp. has named Malene Pickles manager of public relations for Europe. She was European communications manager for the chassis systems division of TRW in Koblenz, Germany.
TEMIC Klaus Schirmer has been made worldwide division manager of the antilock braking division at Temic GmbH Germany. He was president of Temic Automotive of North America Ltd. David Stout, previously vice president of business development, now holds that position.
Temic Automotive North America of Auburn Hills, Michigan, supplies automotive electronic components and systems. It is a unit of DaimlerChrysler.
DELPHI Bernd Gottschalk, 56, has been appointed to the board of directors at Delphi Automotive Systems Corp. He is president of Verband der Automobilindustrie (Association of the German Automobile Industry).
HELLA John Koenig has been promoted to vice president and chief financial officer of Hella North America Inc. He was chief financial officer.
Hella North America of Plymouth, Michigan, supplies vehicle electronics, including control units for central locking and air conditioning systems and electronic control units and relays. It is a unit of Hella KG of Germany.
DYNAMOTIVE TECHNOLOGIES Antony Robson has been appointed managing director of DynaMotive Europe Ltd., previously DynaMotive UK Ltd. Robson will retain his duties as director of international corporate communications and investor relations for DynaMotive Group.
His appointment is part of the Canadian company's push to expand its European base with target markets in the UK, Scandinavia, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Ireland and Greece.
