Rick Wagoner, president of the largest company in the world by revenue, said the age-old auto industry argument about size is over.
'The debate over whether you should be small and local, or big and global, is over,' he told delegates at the
Automotive News Europe Congress dinner on June 19.
Despite the belief inside companies such as Porsche, Honda and BMW that smaller, specialist brands can compete with the global giants, Wagoner said there's no longer any doubt that big is best.
He added: 'Over the next four years, almost half of our launches will be innovative products. We need to take risks, and we can afford to take risks. We are big enough for nine out of 10 ideas to work.'
