Steyr Fahrzeugtechnik could build niche models for one of Ford's luxury-car brands in the future.
'We haven't got a product that fits just now in our portfolio, but we shall most likely have one in future,' said Wolfgang Reitzle, chairman of Ford's Premier Automotive Group.
The Premier group includes Jaguar, Aston Martin, Volvo, Lincoln and Land Rover.
Hubert Hoedl, vice president of Steyr Fahrzeugtechnik with responsibility for new business, said his company was in intensive talks with several prospective customers, among them Ford Motor Co.
'The second half of this year promises to be very exciting,' Hoedl said. But he refused to give details.
BMW is talking with Steyr Fahrzeugtechnik about building the future X3, a small sport-utility vehicle. See story on Page 1.
