Bentley ready to return to Le Mans
CREWE, England - Bentley will return to compete in Le Mans next June - 71 years after its last victory in the 24-hour race.
Bentley CEO Tony Gott said: 'Obviously this is a terrific opportunity for Bentley Motors, whose reputation was founded on its racing success in the 1920s and early 1930s.'
Bentley will race an entirely new car, the EXP Speed 8, which has been under secret development for more than a year.
It will be powered by a 3.5-liter V-8 Audi engine.
A new Bentley-designed racing engine is likely to be installed for Le Mans in 2002.
A story in the October 23 issue listed an incorrect displacement figure for the Isuzu V-6 common-rail diesel planned for use in Lancia's future flagship model.
The story should have said the 3.5-liter diesel engine produces 200hp.
