Managing Director, Fiat Auto
Can you summarize your plans for 2001?
We will be making five big product launches in Europe, including the Fiat Stilo and the Lancia Thesis previewed at Geneva. We will be making other major product launches in India, China, Turkey and Poland. These will be based on the new Palio that has already been successful in Brazil. We will achieve cost cuts of e200 million through synergies with General Motors. We also want to exploit the full potential of information and communication technology through Connect - the system already fitted to the Alfa Romeo 147. Connect will allow us to give a big boost to the information and mobility service sector - because Fiat Auto wishes to gain absolute supremacy in this sector by offering the most innovative products and the widest range.
