Audi of America Inc. expects to set a sales record in the United States this year, despite an uncertain economy and no incentives to bolster sales.
Also looking bright is 2002. Audi has just launched its redesigned 2002 A4 sedan, the automaker's top seller in the United States and the foundation of its success here since the mid-1990s.
The automaker sold 80,372 vehicles in the United States in 2000, a far cry from the bleak days of 1991 when sales were a paltry 12,283 and executives considered pulling out of the States.
During the media launch of the redesigned A4, Len Hunt, vice president of Audi of America, talked with Staff Reporter Ralph Kisiel about coming derivatives from the platform and other Audi initiatives.
